چکیده

One of the major problems of deploying Resource ReSerVation Protocol (RSVP) in mobile environments is called the advance resource reservation (ARR) problem. Conventional solutions to this problem waste too many network resources and increase the new Quality of Service (QoS) session blocking probability. In this paper, we propose a reservation optimised ARR scheme which constrains the number of advance reservation paths in a subnet and only allows the most eligible mobile nodes to make advance reservations. Furthermore, to evaluate the performance of the schemes, we build Markovian models of different ARR schemes using a formal performance modelling formalism named Performance Evaluation Process Algebra (PEPA). Our results indicate that the proposed reservation optimised ARR scheme can effectively balance the active and passive reservation blocking probabilities and achieves a better utilisation of the network resources, especially when the traffic intensity is high.

Quality of Service (QoS) Provisioning in IP-based Broadband Wireless Mobile Networks

In this paper, we propose the seamless switching scheme of RSVP (resource ReSerVation Protocol) branch path for soft handoff in IP micro-mobility domain. Typically, in order to minimize the handoff service disruption of RSVP flows, RSVP message delays and signaling overheads should be minimized. We firstly propose the rerouting scheme of RSVP branch path at a crossover router (CR) at every hand...

FH-RSVP scheme for intra-site handover in hierarchical mobile IPv6 networks

This paper proposes a new RSVP and Mobile IP interworking scheme, called FH-RSVP, to support QoS of real-time applications in mobile environments. FH-RSVP uses unicast sender-oriented RSVPs with HMIPv6 protocol and makes anticipated reactive resource reservations based on fast handover principles when an intra-site handoff can happen to WLAN access radio medium. Simulation results show that our...

WLRP: A Resource Reservation Protocol for Quality of Service in Next-Generation Wireless Networks

QoS guarantees for wireless mobile applications require advance resource allocation. In this paper, we propose a signaling protocol for resource allocation in wireless environments, based on RSVP. It addresses the issue of scalability in RSVP by ensuring lower per-connection state storage and lesser control messaging. It provides wireless applications parameters such as loss negotiability, loss...

RSVP Mobility Support: A Signaling Protocol for Integrated Services Internet with Mobile Hosts

The resource reservation mechanism is essential for QoS provisioning in Integrated Services networks. Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) is a receiver oriented resource reservation protocol being an Internet standard approved by Internet Engineering Task Force (ETF). However, the RSVP designed for fixed network has been facing a great challenge owing to the participation of wireless networks....

M-YESSIR: A Low Latency Reservation Protocol for Mobile-IP Networks

Advanced network and media applications such as multimedia streaming and Internet telephony are becoming an integral part of the Internet. Reservation protocols, such as RSVP have been defined, to provide the necessary Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees. A significant drawback of RSVP is its implementation complexity and high end-to-end reservation delay. Pan et. al. proposed a simpler reserva...
